Navigating Challenging Times: Routines and Boundaries

Life was becoming a never ending stream of fear, stress and case numbers until I realized I had to stop and make some changes. I had to put in some boundaries and create some new routines.

Weirdly enough, I’m actually having a little bit of fun with it.

Gasp Did I just use the ‘F’ word? If we can’t find a little bit of fun or positivity (especially right now) what’s the point, right?

So, here’s what I’ve been doing:

Boundary number 1:

One Status Update Check In per day. At the same time per day. That’s the only time I’ll check in for case numbers near me and any new government announcements. (This is so essential to keep me sane, right now).

Boundary number 2:

I’m not reading kindly forwarded messages on FB from well meaning people about current world events. I don’t care how funny it is – I don’t need to end up an anxious mess so – that’s out.

New Routine number 1:

I’m going for a walk every morning and afternoon. Something I couldn’t take time for before – but now (that my gym is closed) it’s essential for physical and mental health.

New Routine number 2:

Working a couple of hours less so I can go to sleep earlier. Yet another thing I need to keep me sane and healthier.

New Routine number 3:

Every couple of hours, I’m getting up from the computer to do some stretches or strength training exercises.

These new routines were things I never had time for before – well now that life is different, I’m taking the time to carve these new routines into my life.

And, I’m actually enjoying it.

How about you? Are you able to find any new routines (or boundaries) in amongst the changing times? Is there anything you’d like to try out?

Send me a DM over on Instagram and let’s see if I can help!
